MICHAEL BERNARD ACADIANA CHAPTER
of the American Hibiscus Society

This youngest AHS chapter suffered the loss of its leader and founder in April with the
death from cancer of President Michael Bernard. The chapter petitioned the AHS
Board of Directors to rename the chapter in Mike's honor.

The show was very well attended and the bloom count, although just short
of last year's total, was 495 entries and 11 seedlings. The Gold Seals
numbered 208 for 42%. There were 12 Amateur exhibitors.

The show was dedicated to Mike's memory with this banner,
which was crafted by a chapter member

The head table featured a picture of Mike taken
at the 2002 show. The flower arrangement is by
chapter member Bobby Dupont

Dr. David Tate is the National Sweepstakes winner for the Open Collector Class in Texas/Louisiana	The Harry Goulding Grafting Award for 2002 was presented to Michael Bernard's mother Edna Bernard. Mike won this award for his work last year teaching his chapter members how to graft.
